About me

My name is Arnika and my vision is ArnicArt.

From the time I was a girl until now, I've been interested in collage, fiber arts, and making "something out of nothing." I started ArnicArt when I got the idea to combine the three into functional fiber art. The challenge is to create a beautiful accessory that is one of a kind with as much upcycled content as possible. ArnicArt is my way to make something beautiful and useful out of items that would otherwise be wasted. To that end, I decorate my accessories using textile collage and needle felting. My main ingredients are:

Wool:

One component of my art is wool. This wonderful fiber is beautiful and has special insulating properties. Wool keeps the wearer warm in the cold, and allows movement of air when the temperature rises. It also naturally repels moisture. I recycle the wool for my art from once loved sweaters, suits, blankets, and coats.

Silk:

One component of my art is silk. This beautiful fiber is silky and smooth. It also retains rich colors and is ideal for detailed patterns. I recycle the silk for my art from once loved neck ties.

Cotton:

One component of my art is cotton: This versatile fabric can take on any property. It can be smooth or rough, thick or thin, woven or knitted. I recycle the cotton for my art from once loved t-shirts.

Enter the world of ArnicArt today and share my love of texture and pattern and be kind to the earth in the process. My hope is that you get as much joy out of using my art as I do from making it.
